Lil Ivan's Splashing time …

Last 2 weeks, I bought my lil Ivan his first swimming trunk !! And, not forgetting a neck ring and also this kiasu mommy, even bought him the trainer seat float. I was so excited and can’t wait to bring him to the pool.

So, finally, the unforgettable moment is here. It was a sunny Sunday yesterday, so mommy and daddy decided to bring lil Ivan for his very first swim. Changed lil Ivan to his new swimming trunk and there we go!!

Went downstairs and started putting the neck ring on him, and daddy carried him to the pool. He did not show any sign of afraid or excited, but he seemed to be more on ‘wondering’ mode .. Haha .. As there were a few other children playing there, he was so busy body looking around as well.

After playing with the neck ring for awhile, we let him try out the trainer seat float. Again, he shows no excitement, but again looking around here and there ..

As it was his first time and afraid that he will be cold as the wind was blowing quite strong though, hence after about 20 minutes, we bring him up for shower and there goes the tired lil boy ..zzZZzzz…

Lil Ivan started solid !! ... :)

Oh dear, I just realised that it has been almost a month since I last checked in here. Well, I guess my updates nowadays will be mainly on my lil boy .. so please bear with me ya .. :p

Yes, he is already 7 months and 5days today. Bad mommy, missed out his update on his 6th month. So, why not a 2-in-1 updates here … :)

Hmm .. my lil Ivan has started solid since last month when he reached 6 months. However, I have only started him with fruit and veg diet. His very 1st try was mashed pumpkin (lazy mommy, so go easy way … hehehe). We steamed the pumpkin and just used the fork to mash it.

He felt kinda weird during his first try .. He doesn’t know how to ‘munch’ and swallow, hence, he ended up spitting it out. But, mommy didn’t give up and continue trying. After a few try, he learnt and start using his jaws to ‘munch’ and showing us his swallowing action. We were all so excited when we realised that he has learnt how to handle his solid food … Haha

Haha .. look at his 'wondering' look ...

We followed the 3 days rules before introducing the next food to him to monitor if he has any allergic to the new food introduced. So far, he had tried mashed avocado, mashed banana, carrot puree, broccoli puree, pear puree, apple puree, zucchini puree and papaya puree.  And, my lil Ivan is loving everything .. I really hope he doesn’t learn to be a picky eater as he grows up .. :)

We bought the Avent steamer and blender. I highly recommend this product as it really saves a lot of time and also hygienic as you do not need to remove the steamed fruits or veg to the blender. What you need to do is just to flip over once the steaming is done :)

This is how the Avent Steamer and Blender works !!

As he reached 7 months last Friday, I started to introduce oat to him. I bought the organic rolled oat and used my Avent blender to process it into powder.  I combined the oatmeal with papaya puree for his 1st try, and guess what … he loves it too !! Daddy actually felt weird with this combination, but I did tried the taste .. it tastes yummy !! So far for this week, we have been feeding him 1 meal in the afternoon with either fruit or veg puree and another meal in the evening with combined oatmeal and fruit or veg puree or even fruit + veg puree which what we are feeding him currently is oatmeal with pear + zucchini puree.

Next introduction will be rice ... and I have actually bought organic brown rice and will be blending it to powder this coming weekend ... :)

Lil Ivan new found skill ... Flipping over !!

At 5mth and 1 wk, our lil Ivan found his new skill … He can finally flip over by himself. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you .. J
It was a Sunday afternoon back then, while both of us, Mommy and lil precious are relaxing on the bed, and the lil fella decided to just turn over, and luckily that I reacted fast and recorded this special moment … Hehehe …  Well, even lil Ivan is proud of himself and achieved self-satisfaction as after he turned over, he smiled at me happily.

Yeah .. finally, I managed to do it by myself ... xoxo

Oh well, one thing about after knowing how to turn over, everytime we put him down on the bed, he will sure just turn, no matter changing diaper time, putting on his clothes … as long as he is lying flat on the bed :p
And, mil said, ‘you wait till he starts crawling, then you will know’ … hahaha ….
We have also let him try sitting on the Bumbo chair and he is loving it J

Hello .... I love my Bumbo chair ... :)

Happy 5th month old, my lil darling ... xoxo

Our precious is 5 months old !! Time flies ya .. :)
I still remember when I was still in my confinement month, where I was pretty stressed up as being a new mother, I really have no idea how to handle him. From feeding to bathing to changing of diaper and even putting him to bed, it was all done by my mom and hubby. My mom kept telling me, “you need to rest!”. So, my job for the entire month was just to pump milk, eat, sleep and the cycle starts all over again.
However, once we reached fullmoon, I immediately trained myself to be hand-on in handling our lil Ivan. And, I improved as day passes.
2 months passed, and I went back to work on 26th December 2012, while my mom took care of lil Ivan at home. I remembered that I was so reluctant to leave home that morning and automatically, I tears as I said good-bye to him… Thinking back, I can’t believe that I am so emotional. LoL ….
And, day by day passes, our lil Ivan continues to grow and he is such a talkative boy. Every evening, when I am back home after work, I will spend some time talking and sing to him and I am so glad that he will give me positive responses and shows me his excitement, till hubby started to be jealous. He claims that lil Ivan loves mommy more than daddy .. hahaha.
At around 3rd month, lil Ivan said his first word i.e ‘ang ku’ while we were changing his diaper. Both of us, hubby and myself were so excited and he repeated it for a few times … haha .. Can’t imagine when he starts calling us, mommy and daddy, guess we will be so overjoyed J
Anyhow, he is still not able to turn over by himself yet even at 4th month. But, if we help him, then he will be able to turn over and push up his own head for some tummy time. No hurries for that as I believe every baby has their own development milestones. So, darling Ivan, take your time and enjoy your unforgettable growing moment.

Pix of lil Ivan from 1mth - 4mth old
We just took him for his 2nd doses of Rotavirus + Pneumococcal jab. According to his paed, his weight and height is above average … *phew* at least it is balance and is not fat fat, short short … hahaha
Lastly, Happy 5th month old to you, my precious… xoxo

Lil Ivan's fullmoon ... :-)

One month passes really fast, and we had a simple family lunch to celebrate our lil Ivan’s fullmoon on 17th Nov 2012. We had it at one of the Chinese restaurant nearby our home, i.e Cheong Wah Seafood restaurant. Besides that, I have also ordered some cupcakes for his fullmoon from White Daisy.

Cute and yummy cupcakes

And, for friends, I have ordered gift package online. The gift package includes of a cute little bear, lollypop, biscuits, candies, egg-shaped notepad etc.

The special moment when 2 becomes 3 ... :-)

This is such an outdated post. Yes, previous posts were updates on my pregnancy milestone and I have smoothly delivered my little precious at Week 37 (3 weeks earlier than the due) @ 17th Oct 2012.
Some unforgettable moments during the entire labour to be jotted down before I forget :p
Ø  Didn’t realise water bag has leaked till I woke up for toilet break at 3am.
Ø  Screamed for hubby and started to be panic .. hahaha (thinking back, how silly and funny of me during that moment) .. making hubby so ‘kan cheong’ too
Ø  Immediately, hubby cleaned himself, changed and drove me to the hospital
Ø  Luckily it was at wee hour, that the traffic was good all the way from our house in Puchong to Sunway Medical Centre
Ø  Reached the A&E about 3.30am and I was wheel-chaired to the Labour room at Level 2 of Sunmed
Ø  I was welcomed by a Chinese midwife there and was asked to change to their patient’s ‘uniform’
Ø  Once done, the midwife had a check on me and she told me that I am 2cm dilated.
Ø  She continued her task, putting the contraction belt on me and also monitoring little one’s heartbeat.
Ø  However, she commented that my contraction was pretty weird as in it is not in consistent mode, hence after communicating with my Gynae, I was then augmented (it is just another word for induced) .. haha to expedite the contraction process
Ø  At about 7am, Dr Loo came and the very first thing he asked the midwife, “any pain relief on her? Epidural?”… and midwife answered him, “nothing” …
Ø  Dr Loo then proceeded to examine me and told me that I am already 4cm dilated and will see me again at about 10am
Ø  At around 8am, I started to feel the contraction pain getting bad, hence, requested hubby to call the midwife for pain relief … :p (trying hard not to use epidural)
Ø  I was then given the pain relief and this works perfectly well. I had a good rest for the 2 hours plus as I do not feel any pain at all and it was stress free J
Ø  2 hours passed and at about 10am plus, I started to be awake and the pain was really really uncontrollable till hubby’s hand nearly be the bite victim … haha .. but, he was fast and asked if I would want epidural ? And, as the pain was so unbearable, without thinking much, I said, YES !
Ø  But, it was too late. Midwife told me that you are going to be delivering soon, 1 more cm to go only, ‘tahan’ ok !!
Ø  So, no choice and I just nodded and say, ok !
Ø  About 10.30am, Dr Loo came in and that is the beginning of my ‘pushing’ process and after about 4 rounds, our little precious is out to greet us J
He weighs 2.9kg and 48cm in length J

It's the final countdown !!!

Time flies and we are now towards the finale ... :-)

We are currently at Week 36 and 5 days, which means by this Sunday, we will be at Week 37 and little precious is considered full-term .. how excited we are waiting for his arrival :-)

Went for the Week 36 check-up last Sunday and doc has informed that we shall be seeing him on weekly basis now till I deliver. Little precious is progressing well, been pretty active 'playing' in the womb ... hehe ... and like many mothers told me that "you will sure miss his action in the womb when he is out" ... and thinking about it, oh yeah, little precious has been accompanying me for 24hrs a day since day 1, for sure I will miss little precious terribly especially when I need to get back to work after the 2 months maternity .. *sob sob*

I have been occasionally having back pain, and most often it happens in the middle of the night. This caused me waking up in the middle of the night and ended up sitting up and sleep. Other than that, I am glad to say that God has blessed me with a stress-free pregnancy ... Thank you so much :)

Till then ... have a great weekend ahead !! .. xoxo ....

Just for comparison purposes ... hahaha .. difference of my bump's size btw Week 24 and Week 36

Our 1st miracle ~ Our precious moments in our final trimester ... xoxo

Time flies and we are now at Week 34 ... another 6 more weeks or even less before the arrival of our little precious. How excited !!

How has our final trimester been going through ? Well, darling and myself went to attend the Pre-Natal class in Sunway Medical Centre. The class held on 3 Saturdays, and we attended the September class. It was a good exposure especially to 1st time parents and it is good that all the daddy-to-be were allowed to join in the class too. Well, at least, they are aware what will be their responsibilities and how can they be our labour coach ... Hehehe ... Yesterday was our last class and yes, we "graduated". In the last class, we were all taught how to take care of new born, and I was so proud that darling did try to get himself hand-on practise in handling little precious .. xoxo.

Look at this proud daddy-to be ....

As time getting closer, we are going for our bi-weekly check-up and we just got back from our Week 34 check-up. Everything looking good. Little precious's in good position and heartbeat is normal ... :). We managed to get a good 3D/4D scan of little precious's face today and it seems like he is having daddy's nose. Haha .. Big nose huh .... LoL .... Little precious's weight is fine and we are hoping that he will continues growth steadily at this rate, then he shall be an average size baby, which *finger cross* will be easier for labour later.

My pregnancy has been good so far. Thank God for the blessing that I do not have much morning sickness, just slight nausea. Except for now as little precious is growing bigger, I have started to have backache occasionally and the nerve pain can even wake me up in the middle of the night. At times, I can't lie down and sleep, that I have to sit down with good back support and sleep. But, I am telling myself that all this is worth sacrifice when the little precious arrives in good health.

We are still busy preparing the stuffs for the little precious's arrival. Most of the things are in-placed, but I have yet to wash little precious's clothing yet and friends have been pressuring me to pack ready my hospital bag .... :p .. and, yet, I am still dragging my feet to do that ... Haha ...

Alright, shall 'pen' off now and continue my weekend job in housekeeping my house :)

We went visiting to Pureen Warehouse Sales

One of the longest brand in the market, Pureen, which I guess my mom had been using it on us when we were still young, had warehouse sales last weekend, 14 & 15 July.

So, on Sunday morning, I told hb that I would like to check out the Pureen warehouse sales in PJ. He asked me what do I wanna get there .. and I told him, maybe some baby's napkins as both my mom and mom-in-law been telling me to get some, so I was just thinking whether I was thinking whether I will use it or not, that will be another story, just listen to old folks first :)

Therefore, we got ourselves ready, went out for a quick brunch before heading to PJ. We reached there at about noon, and the road was pretty congested. As hb was hunting for parking, I was looking here and there and noticed that many parents and family were walking towards the Summit building to check out the warehouse sales. And, when we finally passed by the main entrance, I actually noticed that some parents bought in cartons .. not sure what is that, but it could be baby's diapers.

We parked our car in one of the nearby parking, rather than continuing hunting for parking by the roadside, and walked towards the building. Luckily that it wasn't that crowded, although there were many people. The warehouse sales covers a few brand such as Pureen, Pureen Pride 'N' Joy, Pureen basic, Tracia and also Dr Mist.

We went straight to get what we are keen on. What have I whacked .... hehehe ....
  • 2 dozens of baby's napkin
  • 2 boxes of nappy liner
  • 2 big packets of wet wipes
  • 1 bottle of baby's detergent (get 1 first, in case it is not suitable)
  • 20 packets of cotton bud (only RM 1 per packet)
  • 2 sets of mittens & booties
  • 1 set of pillow and bolster for the little one
All all the above costs us about RM 128.00. In actual fact, there are quite a bit of baby's clothes which ranged from RM 5 - 10, and some were at RM 15 per set. I didn't get those as my sis-in-law has passed down 2 boxes of baby's clothing to me, so I guess I have more than enough of baby's clothing :)

First buy for our little precious ... xoxo

Gap is having sales!! Everything is at 30% and with purchase of minimum 5 pcs, you will be entitle for additional 20% .. which is on average, you will be able to get about 45%.

Waste no time, since it is a Friday and I have 2 hrs lunch break, therefore, after 'makan', I immediately head towards Baby Gap, KLCC to check out anything that I could get for my little precious. Spent like almost 30 - 40 minutes in there, I managed to grab 4 rompers for little precious, and I combined the bill with the other friend and we managed to get the additional discount. Hence, on average, each of the romper cost about RM 32 per pc, which I felt it is a great buy (at least it is branded, right :p).

The 4 rompers that I got, nice or not ? :p

Our 1st miracle ~ Beginning of our 2nd trimester ... xoxo

Say goodbye to 1st trimester, and yes, we are almost nearing half of the journey .. :) .. We are now almost Week 20 ...

Went to the gynae this morning for the 5th check-up (which supposed to be only due on this coming Wednesday, but ...  as I was down with flu and cough, hb kept pressuring me to see doc .. been dragging this since last Fri, as I hope that I will not need get medication and let it cure by itself. Well, I don't know, as eventhough doc assured that the medicine is safe for pregnancy consumption, I am still not comfortable, just worried that my little baby cant take it ... :p .. so, I hope that my flu and cough can recover soonest possible so that I can quickly stop the medication.

What about our 2nd trimester journey so far ?

  • At our Week 16's check-up, my weight finally increased instead of dropping .. haha. During the ultrasound, doc managed to show us our little baby's spine, and he said, beautiful spine ... :) .. Baby's weight was good, of about 135gm, which is average size .. *phew* .. good to hear that, as I am pretty worried that baby will be too big at later stage and I might have difficulties in delivering. Lovely heartbeat, according to doc and everything is normal. Doc also took some of my blood for lab test, to test for mommy's blood count and also to test on baby's risk of Down syndrome. And, there it goes, see you in 4 weeks time :)
  • One week later, the nurse called me and informed that the lab test's result is out and all is normal .. another great great relief !!
  • My appetite is slowly coming back and I am beginning to enjoy my pregnancy. I am also beginning to feel the movement of my little baby :) .. Such a great and amazing feeling :) .. and of course, daddy is starting to feel jealous as he couldn't feel it as much yet.

My little bump @ Week 17 ~ still pretty small and not so obvious

  • Went for our 5th check-up at about Week 19+, baby's weight has increased to about 303gm and doc said that baby looks well :). And, yes, we know our baby's gender already ... :) .. Hb asked doc about my weight, and doc said that my weight has not been increasing much, but no worries, as more importantly is that baby is growing well inside :) ... and, we shall see you again in 4 weeks time ...

Will "Bird Nest" be our weekly consumption during this moment in time ?

Friends and relatives have been telling me to consider consuming bird nest as it is good for the little one. Chinese say, bird nest is "yun" .. and consuming it during pregnancy will also help in improving the immunity of the baby and of course, the mommy will be able to recover faster after giving birth. Apparently, it will also help the baby to have better skin condition :)

A friend of mine who was pregnant last year, according to her, she consumed it on weekly basis, and apparently her baby has good complexion. Even, my mom told me that her friend's grandson has pretty good skin complexion, pinky pinky in color, and her friend told her that the mother of the boy consumed bird nest frequently during her pregnancy. So, based on the few true stories that you have heard, will you believe this ?

As for me, as long as it doesn't harm the little one, and whether it is beneficial as proven by few true stories, if it is affordable, then I found no harm in trying it :)

So, this week, nearing Week 19, it will be our 1st bowl of bird nest :) ... I boiled a piece of the bird nest together with some rock sugar, and here is the boiled bird nest, ready to be eaten ... Hehe ... :)

Our 1st miracle ~ Moments of our 1st trimester

Guess I should jot down every single moment of the our 1st miracle as a special dedication to the little life that is accompanying me every single moment :)

Day 1 : Hb was super excited the moment the test kit shown positive result. He immediately drove out to buy more test kits to re-confirm. We actually tested 3 tests.

Day 2 : After work, I actually left office sharp sharp, took train and hb pick me up from the LRT station. And, immediately, drove to the gynae. We waited for almost 1 1/2 hr before we could see the gynae. Did 1st ultrasound and doc confirmed that I am pregnant :), but doc said that we would need to be back in 2 weeks time to confirm on the baby's heartbeat. P/S : Baby was about Week 5.

2 weeks later ....

We went to the gynae, and baby was at Week 7, waited anxiously for almost an hour, and finally, our turn :). And, thank God that doc confirmed that baby's heartbeat is normal ... and we will be seeing baby in 4 weeks time.

Another 4 weeks later ...

At Week 11,  our 3rd check-up and it was such a great moment when we could actually see our little baby moving inside .. how adorable that little baby showed us a very strong kick ... :) Hb screamed so excitedly and re-confirmed with doc " is the baby kicking? " .. haha ... Everything was normal and it was such an unforgettable moment ... xoxo ... P/S, I was sick during this time, having bad headache and flu .. :(

Well, my overall experiences throughout the 1st trimester, not much of appetite (in total I dropped 6kg), always very sleepy & tired. I was such a good girl that I didn't go out shopping / jalan-jalan at all, and hb was so surprised, but at the same time, he said it is good also, have more rest ... hahaha ...

But, I was grateful that I didn't have terrible vomiting moment ... Thank God again for this wonderful moment :)

What we get for our little precious .. xoxo

Hubby and I went out to Sunway Pyramid yesterday for movie and as we were walking around the complex, Popular Bookstore was having some Book / Music Fair in the centre court over at the new wing. So, I told hubby that I would like to check out what they have.

In fact, hubby was stuck in one of the section, guess what .. he was stuck in the oldies corner, asking the promoter to play some of the music before deciding which to buy. While, for myself, I walked around and I saw this ... Maternity Melodies. Immediately, I took it and walked back to hubby and told him that I would like to get this :)

Well, I don't know how true / effective is this, but, from the pregnancy books / magazines that I have been reading, it did mentioned that it is good to play classical music while the baby is still in the belly. So, since week 15, I have been playing some classical music of Mozart and Beethoven to my little precious .. hopefully, it does benefit to the little baby who is still growing inside :)

Our 1st Miracle, Our precious gift, Our new beginning ... xoxo

Friends and relatives have been consistently asking us when are we going to have our little junior for many many years. And, everytime we were prompted with this question, we will just either smile or reply, soon soon :) ... Well, not because that we don't want any but we would like to enjoy life as two before we commit ourselves as a parents.

Finally, after the 4th year of our marriage, we decided to give a try and we were truly blessed with the precious gift from God. Thank God for the miracle.

And, our new bundle is expected to arrive somewhere around early Nov 2012 ... we are all so excited and can't wait for the special moment.
