Great short relaxation getaway to Golden Palm Tree Resort

We just got back from a short relaxing vacation in Golden Palm Tree Resort last week. We were there for 2 days 1 night together with another 4 friends. These are some of the close friends (ex-GCP colleague) whom I still keep in touch and seeing frequently.

As our standard practise, Puchong is our gathering point, where we will have our breakfast before the departure to Golden Palm Tree Resort. Right after our breakfast, we dropped by Giant Hypermarket to get some stocks to be bring over to the resort :p

Once done, we departed from Puchong at about noon, and we reached the resort around 2pm. Checked-in and as it was Singapore National Day, the most basic villa i.e the Travellers were fully booked, hence, we got ourselves 2 Canary villa which each villa can accommodate 4 pax. It is a wonderful villa where we have our own living hall and balcony attached to each room:)

After settled down in the room, and all of us were hungry, so, this means it is time for food hunting. As our main intention of this trip was to spend time in the resort itself, hence, we went to the nearby town, i.e Sg Pelek to cure our hunger. We stopped by one coffeeshop and had our quick lunch. Thereafter, we went back to the resort, hb went to the gym while I took some rest in the villa itself.

About evening, we went for some water splashing session. What else, with such weather, we changed to our swimsuit / bikini / swim truck, walked towards the Infinity pool in the resort and 'jumped' down to the pool !!

Spent almost an hour plus with the water splashing session and we called it a day. Went back to the villa, had our shower, and we decided to stay back in the resort for our dinner. We had our dinner in the Chinese restaurant Hai Sang Lou. The food there was surprisingly delicious. I would rate them 4 out of 5 :)

Our yummy dinner ...

We went for a short walk after our dinner before our next agenda kicked in :).

As part of the purpose of having this short vacation in this resort, was to also celebrate my birthday .. how thoughtful my lovely friends ya ... hehehe ... So, we all went back to our villa, and is party time !!

We had healthy party i.e Fruit party .. hahahaa ...and, I was so touched that my dear Polly took the initiative to bake me a birthday cake. So honoured that it was her 1st time baking cake ... xoxo

And, we had a great chit-chatting session the whole night at the balcony ... :) till our dear Edward was slightly drunk ... hahaha ...

The next morning, we woke up almost at 9am, got ready and went for our buffet breakfast. Well, I would say that the buffet breakfast spread of food was great as well. While Polly and I, the preggie mama could not enjoy the massage session, hence, both of us stayed back in the villa, watching Astro ... hahaha while the others went for a massage session before we checked out from the villa.

At about 1pm, we finally checked out, and it a food hunting time again. This time round, we went to check out this Beggar Chicken @ Banting. It took us about 50 minutes drive from the resort to Bukit Jugra, where the restaurant is located.

The 'kitchen' to cook the Beggar dishes :p

We enjoyed the lunch very much and it was something different and special than the normal dishes that we commonly had in KL. And, of course, thanks to Polly & hb, SPS and Ed for the wonderful birthday lunch treat.

I indeed had a great vacation and great time that week ... xoxo ....

'AUGUST' ~ A month of celebration & surprises ... xoxo

My favourite month of the year aka August. Why is that so ? Because it is a month of celebration for me ... hehehe .. which is my birthday .. :p

The celebration began on August 1st, when my 2 lovely friends (Christine and Ie Lin) from work organised a birthday dinner. Initially, I thought it will just be a dinner between 3 of us, as it was the standard practise whenever either one of our birthday, we will just have dinner. So, life as usual, we dated each other on that day, and decided to leave office sharp on that day. And, as I was pretty busy lately with some on going projects, I didn't even asked them where are we going for dinner till that day itself. And, Christine later told me that we will be going to a Boathouse, a restaurant located in TTDI. And, my response to her was, oh ok, I don't know where it is :p .. And, she replied me, me neither .. ^_^. So, out of curiousity, I asked her then where do you find out this place then ? And her simple reply, friend recommended. So, cut it short, we left office at 6 evening that day, and reached the restaurant with the help of Google map. Parked our car and walked towards the restaurant. Still nothing suspicious, as Christine informed the waiter, " table for 3, pls".

We were then seated at a square table which can fit 4 pax, but I am yet to suspect anything. Busy 'reviewing' the menu, as the menu is as thick as a book .. omg, and all of a sudden, someone in black stood right beside me, and I thought was the waiter and I looked up thinking of telling him to give us some more time before taking our order, and guess what, once I looked up, it is my little sister there. I was indeed in shocked, and according to Ie Lin that my eyes were wide open staring at my sister. Yet, I am cool enough to ask her, how come you are here ? As, she earlier told me that she is meeting with her friend for KFC !! So, I know it is a plan then ... hahaha

And, later on, the waiter asked if there will only be 4 pax ? And, I answered very promptly yes, and he offered us to change to a longer table, which can fit 6 pax. I still did not suspect anything, as I thought the waiter offered us a bigger table so that we can sit more comfortably. We then changed the to the bigger table, and continued looking through the menu, still undecided what to eat. Well, this round is a real great surprise then. All of sudden, there was a bouquet of roses 'dropped' from the sky ... well, I was so shocked and I actually 'jumped' up. Looked up, and I saw my dear hb there smiling and gave me a kiss. And, of course, I also asked him that - ' how come you are here? ' ... and, I actually asked them, will there be anyone else coming before I got shocked for the third time ... hahaha ... however, it was a great night though. Thanks so much for the dinner and surprise efforts :) ...

Thanks so much for the lovely earring .. xoxo

My next surprise was on the Friday itself, August 3rd. This surprise was from my dearest hb. As usual he picked me up after work. Then, he did not mentioned anything, as we will be going to Melaka the next day for a 2 days 1 night trip. And, he only mentioned that once we are back from Melaka, only bring you go shopping and see what you want for your birthday pressie. Well, I am fine with this idea, therefore, I just reply him ok. So, we went to have our dinner and go back home. Upon reaching home, I went shower and life as usual. And, right after my shower, I saw there was something on my dressing table, and realised that it was Pandora paperbag ! Immediately, I asked hb, how come got Pandora paperbag on the table ? He looked at me and smile, and said ' your birthday present loh' .. And, I was like, oh ... I thought you said only bring me go shopping on Sunday ? Hahaha .. he then replied, I have to talk like that only you won't be suspecting anything !! ... LoL ... And, thanks darling for the wonderful gift ... Love ya ... xoxo

Besides that, I was grateful to have another group of lovely colleague with their sweet thought, and bought me some cupcakes ... :)

The celebration continues when I took 2 days leave to have a short vacation to Golden Palm Resort, Sepang with the Ji Mui gang. Shall blog on this celebration and resort later :)

And, finally, my last gang i.e old buddies from college celebrated my birthday last weekend. We went to a Korean restaurant in Bandar Sunway. It was a great night too, we chatted and catching up with each other :)

All in all, life is so much greater when you have great friends all around ! Thanks to all my wonderful friends !!

My birthday weekend at the historical town

Yeah .. August is a month of celebration for me .. :p ... well, usually I will take a day off on my birthday day if it happens to be a working day, but this year, it falls on a Sunday. And, since I am preggy now and hb doesn't allow me to travel on air and what not, overseas .. hence, we decided to go for a food hunt trip in Melaka.

We woke up at about 8 plus morning on the Saturday, went to mamak for our quick breakfast and there we go, Melaka, here are we ... Traffic was pretty smooth, although there were quite alot of cars on the highway, and we reached the Ayer Keroh toll almost close to 12 noon. Upon that, it rained pretty heavily for awhile as we were on our way to the town ... where we gonna start on our 1st food hunt.

Lucky us was that upon reaching the town, where the Red Houses are, the rain became smaller and we could just parked our car nearby, and walked to the Jonker Street, where our 1st food hunt will be the Nasi Ayam Hoe Kee. We were lucky as we were there not too late, hence the queue was acceptable.

After fulfilling our tummy with the yummy chicken rice, we walked along the Jonker Street, hb loves checking out those antique shops and of course, old watches .... :) .. Along the way, I grabbed some pineapple rolls for munching, and then we dropped by San Shu Gong for dessert and to shop for some local delicacies.
We ordered 1 bowl of Gula Melaka cendol and 1 bowl of Durian cendol :)

It is almost 3pm, and we decided to take a break, hence, we went to check-in to the hotel which I have booked for a night. We didn't stay along those boutique hotels around Jonker Street, to avoid noises and traffic, therefore, we stayed in Holiday Inn Melaka, which is nearer to the shopping complex such as Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan. The service was great, check-in process was fast and the room and toilet is clean. In conclusion, we are happy with the hotel. Just that, too bad was the hotel was fully booked and we were not able to get 1 king size bed, therefore, we bear with 2 super single bed.

After taking a short break, and we started our food hunt again, the Pork Satay. We went to one of the nearby stall i.e Ming Hut Satay. As we intended these will just be our 'starter' before the next food hunt, therefore, hb only ordered the minimum stick i.e 10 sticks of pork satay. Each stick costs RM 0.70.

According to my planned food 'itinerary', the next food hunt will be satay celup. And, the shortlisted shop is the Capitol Satay Celup located at Lorong Bukit Cina (GPS point : N2 11.685 E10 215.126). The shop opens at 5pm, and we were there at 5.30pm. Guess what ?!? ... The queue is as long as 4 shops away. I knew that hb will not have such patience to wait for that queue, therefore, I suggested that we tried another shop which is just few shops away from this famous Capitol Satay Celup. Hence, we tried out this A Famosa Satay Celup instead. The service was ok but in term of taste, I still think that Capitol tastes better :)

We went for a short walk at Jonker Street after the satay celup session, as on every weekend, Fri, Sat & Sun, there will be a night market along this street. There are numerous types of stalls that you can see from food, to antiques, to phone casing, to t-shirts, to local delicacies .. and etc.

As we were walking back to our parking after the short walk, hb would like to check out the river side and there we go :)

We called it a day and went back to the hotel for rest :)

The next morning, I told hb that I would like to buy back some crepes from the Nadeje Patisserie and based on their card, it did mentioned that they do have an outlet in Dataran Pahlawan. So, I suggested to hb that we shall drop by Dataran Pahlawan for window shopping, and packed the crepes back before leaving Melaka. Guess what, we checked on the floor directories and I couldn't find this outlet, therefore, hb checked with the lady at the Information Counter and to realise that the outlet has relocated to Mahkota Parade instead .. gosh ! However, luckily that the main branch is just near by i.e same row with the Ming Hut Satay stall, so we dropped by there and I packed a few slices of the crepes home :) .. Some of the flavours that I bought :)

Dark mocha

Before we bid farewell to Melaka, hb wanted to bring me to this famous shop, Hing Loong Taiwanese Noodles. We googled and we found that they do have 2 shops in Melaka, i.e one in Jalan Bachang and another one in Melaka Raya. However, hb wanted to bring me to the original shop, which is at Jalan Bachang. They are famous for Porkchop noodles and Beef noodles. So, hb ordered both so that we could taste both :) It is indeed yummy and worth trying :)

And, both of us enjoyed ourselves with the food hunting and of cos, I had a great birthday day celebrated with my dearest hb and of cos, our little miracle inside my tummy ... xoxo ... :)
